There a bunch of information on pros and cons of the V6 on the board that a search should turn up. Larry West has a number of posts where he does a nice job listing out things to look for.
Its a polarizing issue. There are a bunch of folks on the board that are heavily biased against the V6, and others who are quite happy with the V6. In general, well maintained (by the book) by previous owner and you continuing to do so, is most important. That holds true for any Saab really -- both the 4 and the 6 are not forgiving of maintenance lapses, just in different ways.
So, search and read, consult with a reputable Saab shop, and you should be able to make your decision.
I had a 2000 95 SE V6 that I turned it at 75K (crazy lease deal at the time) that had 0 issues, and was dealer maintained (only because I worked across the street)
My current daily drive is a 2003 95 Arc (V6) that now has 223,000 miles on it. I've been religious about the maintenance and timing belts. I've had one oil cooler replacement and otherwise nothing out of the ordinary for either the V6 or the 4s. I thoroughly enjoy the smooth power on my mostly highway commute, and have really enjoyed taking it to see my son in Virginia on the longer cruises. Cruising mileage is about 30mpg, around town, low 20s
My experience FWIW. I have nothing good or bad to say about the 4 cylinder Saabs -- haven't driven one since I got rid of my 93 9000CSE to lease the 2000 9-5.
Good luck
