Gm was known for quality in America. I have owned GM Trucks most of my adult life. I was only left on the side of the road once in probably 1,000,000 miles and that was due to me not changing the alternator.
If it was not for GM warrantying the SAAB I would have never bought one.
Now I cant imagine not owning a SAAB. The SAAB community is awesome and I would not have known that without GM.
On the 3.0l V6 I own one with 100,000 with an unknown history so I changed the timing belt and water pump right off. I have owned another with 175000 miles and I changed the timing belt right off. Cars are only as good as the person maintaining them. Read read read. Change the fluids. But above all buy it if you like it. Then take care of it.
I have owned a lot of different brands they ALL require maintenance.
My 4 cyl SAAB is the best car by far not because of the engine because I take care of it. I love that car it does everything a truck does, is fast, gets 30 mpg and is beautiful and has 235,000 miles and I will see 500k easy in New England.
Dont Bash If you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all you sound a lot more intelligent being silent than banging a drum that is worn out. Yes its all GMs fault for SAAB building cars that last a lifetime.(if well cared for)
My 2 cents
