A couple of years ago I accidentally closed my hatch (03' 9-5 linear wagon) when the latch was already closed. Since then the trunk thinks it is open some of the time it jimmies itself as I drive. Obviously this causes the rear lights to come on and the indicator on the dash to light up. It was a problem for a while and then just "fixed" itself. Recently I slammed the hatch too hard and the problem has arrisen again. I don't feel any risk of the hatch not opening or closing, it just has a little play in it that trips the sensor. Aside from replacing the entire thing is there any way to by pass the sensor so it doesn't flicker the lights on while I'm driving and so that the dash doesn't flicker on and off, (very distracting)? I really could do with out the lights in the back, I just want to trick it into thinking it is all the way closed.
