Anders mentions that FPR failures, though possible, are very rare on these cars. so a few possible causes gleaned from that thread:
- bad fuel pump
- use of wrong port on fuel pump (not likely in this case since you did not change the FP yet)
- cavitating fuel pump due to not enough fuel in basket or
- low voltage making the pump spin too slowly
