2001 Aero, Automatic. 155k.
Yesterday the shifter suddenly got loose and the detents were all but gone. I pulled over and could see (and feel) that the "ball joint" style link that connects the shift cable to the transmission was worn and very loose.
I secured it with a couple zip ties, and its back to normal. for now.
is there a fix for this other than replacing the entire shift cable?
