Hello,
A few things too check with possible causes.
1. Using a voltmeter check to see what the voltage is on on of the t7 ecm fuses when u are cranking. If it is lower than 10 volts the ecm will not power up. Possible causes for this would be a battery, positive battery cable or an ignition switch that is dropping +15 power. Another thing too look at is if the check engine or gearbox light flicker when cranking which would point to the ignition switch.
2. Another option is that some control module is failing and taking the bus system down. It can be any module in the car ie (cd changer, radio, climate control, power mirror, power seat with memory, dice, miu, transmission module, etc.
As far as the cluster (miu) lighting up it does not mean that enough voltage is making it to the ecm. Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive
