I went to close the tailgate on my '04 Aero wagon earlier this week, heard a "pop", and the tailgate closed without the usual gas-strut resistance. Took it to my indy today, and he said that one of the little "ball joints" that the strut pops onto near the roof had snapped off! "Never seen that before" was what he said. Evidently the replacement part is available (!), but the labor looks like a real bear. Need to get it fixed as wagon is pretty much useless w/o the hatch.

Has anyone ever seen this before? Swedecar? Man, this is gonna hurt... I figure it's payback for me fixing the heater control in my son's Mazda and saving the $700 the dealer was going to charge to take the dash apart....
