Need Emissions Help

Well I thought I was finally free, having sold my 9-5 with the caveat it would pass emissions. Of course it didn't, because this 9-5 exists to destroy my wallet. Every 3rd time the car starts the check engine light comes on for the DIC. 2-3 codes, all related. The DIC is recent Saab OE, the plugs NGK. I can't afford to fix that, I need to figure out how to pass emissions. I went after changing the battery, and the Dept of Env reader said several items were not ready and that I had to finish a drive cycle. So without turning the car off I rode around for an hour or so, stop and go and highway. I went to test and the only not ready item was catalyst. Does anyone know how long I have to drive around to make the emissions values ready to read ? ie 'A drive cycle' like the emissions report said. I assume every time I clear the codes, it clears the emissions values too ? I am so tired of these DIC codes, they are the bane of my existence.
