2003 9-5 Aero, 186K miles. Had noticed increased noise coming from right front side of engine. Sounds a bit like grinding bearing but difficult to pinpoint source. Loosened accessory belt. Water pump, which was replaced in 2012 (about 15-20K miles ago) turns smoothly with no play. Likewise with power steering pump. Noise is definitely turns the front right side of engine and is not coming from the pulleys further back.
last night on the way home, the noise increased/changed. Louder. Also hear what sounds like trickling fluid and possibly more metallic ticking/tinkling sounds.
Thinking the turbo might be bad, but wanted to figure out other options before I start dismantling things.
Other than increased noise, the engine is running smoothly with normal power. Haven't noticed any oil consumption and have very slight coolant loss (just topped off reservoir because check coolant light came on - adding less than 8 oz. of AF/H20. Slight knocking with mid-grade fuel on heavy acceleration, but don't think it is a timing chain issue.
