Hello all. There has been some discussion about how we all store our spare DIC. Some have said they can't get the DIC under the floor in their cars, while some have said it works great. Some have requested photos when I say that I can get the floor flat as well as a DIC in there!
Here's my solution (2003 9-5 Aero Wagon, with 17" '04 Aero wheel mounted with 225/45 Continental Extreme Winter Contact Snow tire)
The orientation:
I cut a couple of small areas out of the styrofoam tool holder to get the DIC to set lower in the well. It also stabilizes it:
As you can see above, I wrap the whole thing in an old shirt to prevent scraping between DIC and the paint.
How the floor sets when closed:
I usually keep jumper cables under the wheel (there's tons of space in there), as well as an ice scraper, spare bulbs, and few other odds and ends. Perhaps I should put my spare serpentine belt and fuel pump in there too... I don't know if that last one would fit.
