On a 9-5, I've had it not start one morning. It was the DIC. Considering that it takes up space that would otherwise not be used, I keep one with the car. I have had one stumble on for a while, but why drive a stumbling car home from a weekend away when four bolts and 5 minutes later you could have a smooth-running car for the return trip?
On the 9000, I had it suddenly quit on two occasions. The newer ones do seem to die slow, CEL-ful deaths more often than the older ones.
Cheers,
~Peter
