I just put a light coat of graphite lock solution on it, and made sure the carrier solvent had dried before reassembly. I don't EVER want to introduce anything that could wick down to ignition switch and wreck it - that thing was a nightmare to replace when I did so a couple of years ago. The graphite works for awhile, but the entire assembly is worn with clearly excessive tolerances.
eEuro told me by email they can still order cylinder cut to existing key with VIN. I'm not sure how they can do this when Ellis, ostensibly the Saabparts official outlet, can't. I'll give it a try, though.
The thought occurred to me to gut the tumbler parts in the cylinder, reassemble, and go. Thinking goes the key would then still work like a paddle (no mechanical security) but the immobilizer/electronics prevent using a screwdriver to start the car. Might try it with the safety of a backup tumbler just because I like screwing with things.
