Replaced Heater By-pass Valve on my '08 tonight Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 20 Apr 2015 16:25:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know, I know, go with the MacKay hose set. I actually had both a new valve and a MacKay hose set in my parts cabinet. Having done both jobs before on my 2000 I knew the valve was 1 hour and the hose set was 3 hours.
I saw a mysterious puddle under my car yesterday afternoon but thought it was only A/C condensate. Today while driving to work I got a "Low Coolant" message. The sweet acrid stench of coolant burning off the exhaust system let me know what the real problem was.
My son is out of town until tomorrow and his car is in the shop for repair - it broke down on the expressway as he was headed to the airport Friday night - Dad to the rescue again. Anyway, he may need to borrow my 9-5 for a day or so after he returns until his car is fixed and I didn't want to spend three hours working in a drizzle tonight to install the hose set.
They changed the wiring loom between 2000 and 2008 so that there is another obstruction to work around. Joy!
