I'm sure it's too late to help the person who posed the question about the trunk rack on a Wagon that will sit entirely on the glass. I'm posting this in case it helps anyone who searches the site for similar info.
The Hollywood F1-B works great and is not expensive. I had a Vanagon on which I used a F1-B and it was all on the glass. Two mountain bikes traveled securely on a two week trip that saw the Vanagon bombing dirt roads.
With any rack that straps on, I can't stress enough how important it is to do a secure and thorough job of installation and attaching the bike to the rack. I suggest two to four toe straps (ask at the bicycle shop where you buy the rack)for attaching each bike. Learn how they work so you can make the bike secure.
