i posted a little bit back about an issue that we started seeing with oil pressure after the engine has been running for a bit (at least 15 mins) getting the oil pressure warning light but only under 1k rpm.
So far have eliminated:
- Oil filter type / brand
- Oil type / brand
- Looks like eliminated to oil pressure switch
So, just put on a digital oil pressure gauge, and here are some of the data points.
Startup cold idle pressure is high, about 57 psi
After a short while, idle pressure is about 25 psi
After about 15mins or more, idle pressure is < 20 psi
After a bit more, idle pressure can be as low as 11 psi
Road speed pressure after a bit is somewhere between 30-50 psi, depending on load, rpm, etc.
So what can we glean from this? Oil pump? Change oil weight? One main thing that I wanted to learn is that pressure is not going to 0.....
Question: At what pressure is the oil pressure switch supposed to go on? The meter has a warning light at 18psi.
