Non-teech question re parts Posted by serge [Email] (#1363) [Profile/Gallery] (more from serge) on Sat, 20 Jun 2015 07:02:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm just asking generally if others have had a similar experience like my recent purchase of some items from eEuroparts. I ordered a CPS and a new mass air flow sensor to keep on hand given my 9-5's mileage.
I'd seen so many CPSs at a wide variety of prices, so I figured a Bosch unit couldn't be too far off and, FAIK, an OEM replacement. My issue is with the MAF sensor. I wanted a Saab unit, not a replacement manufactured by a company I've never heard of. eEuroparts lists a pretty good price for what is described beyond all doubt as a "genuine" Saab part. Well, I received a unit manufactured by Hudson Premium Parts, with Saab's part number, the stand-alone word "Genuine," and in one inch high letters it reads "AUDI." I'm sure the Audi may use the same MAF, and Hudson may make a fine part, it's just not what I ordered and not what I was told I would receive.
So I call, and I get a very nice guy on the phone. He goes to check their stock for a genuine Saab iteration of the MAF, and he's gone for a fair amount of time. He eventually returns and says yes they have a Saab part, but then starts a hard sell. "The Saab and Audi part are exactly the same, and the Saab part is manufactured by Hudson (??)." "If I had bought the Saab part it would have been marked up more." This notwithstanding the online part description that says Genuine SAAB(!!!!) at the price I paid(????).
I said, "Dude, you just gave me the textbook definition of a bait-and-switch." He stammered for a while and I just gave up and hung up. This is only my second order from eEuroparts. They have little for my 96 beyond points and a rotor. Does this recall anyone else's experience with this vendor, or is this perhaps a one-off, unusual situation? Thanks (I feel better for having ranted a bit...)
