Installing Weather Band Radio in MY2004 Posted by DnstrDan [Email] (#1361) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DnstrDan) on Thu, 2 Jul 2015 11:14:43 In Reply to: Re: It worked., Dean, Tue, 12 May 2015 07:45:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This would make for an interesting experiment. One would need a Tech II to perform it. I have both the donor (1999 SE) and recipient (2004 Aero) cars.
1) divorce and remove -2003 radio from donor car
2) divorce and remove 2004+ radio from recipient car
3) install and marry -2003 radio to recipient car
4) install and marry 2004+ radio to donor car
5) drive/operate each and evaluate
Since we don't have access to SAAB's proprietary engineering documentation, experimentation would be the only way to assess radio head interoperability between the model years.
Another approach would be to perform a teardown analysis of the two different radio heads to ascertain what circuit components were deleted. I'm wondering whether the WB circuit could be removed from a junked -2003 radio and added to the 2004-2005 radio.
