Re: When might I expect to do some clutch work? The question might make an interesting poll. I have little experience with different clutches since I have a history of keeping vehicles to max life but I was surprised that as the original owner, I was still on the original clutch when my former 1987 Volvo 240DL went to parts heaven. It ended life at 545,000km and was working fine except that reverse gear was a bit finicky to get into.
I find my 165,000km 2005 ARC clutch is still working well but I eco-drive and try to ensure the tach doesn't move when I let the clutch out. Although I avoid downshifting, when I do, the tranny seems to like me rowing thru the gears with clutch in before I settle into my lower gear, say going around a corner. To me, and I am willing to take the risk, it also likes a ~5% overfill which makes shifting buttery smooth with specified GM tranny oil available from the popular site sponser.
