ABS/brake/TCS issue on a 2008 9-5 Sportcombi Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Mon, 13 Jul 2015 10:43:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This last weekend I started getting the chime and the ABS/brake/TCS lights coming on as has been discussed in this forum in the past. Those earlier discussions pointed to a common issue with a wiring junction needing to be rebuilt/soldered between the rear wheel speed sensor and the ABS control unit. But that seemed to be for 2005/6 and earlier models.
My 9-5 is a 2008 with only about 89,000 miles. Does that information still apply? It seems a bit early for the ABS control unit to be going out (and needing to be sent off to BBA Remanufacturing), or is it? I know I did not have to do that on my 2000 9-3 until past 160,000 miles.
The other symptom that started happening is sometimes now when I turn on the ignition, the button that you pull up on the automatic transmission shifter to move it out of P(ark) will not move. Sometimes wiggling the shifter a bit fixes it...sometimes turning off the engine and turning it on again fixes it. Would this be related to the ABS issue above (i.e., is a problem in circuitry not detecting I have my foot on the brake when starting the car and thus it is not going to go out of Park) or is it another issue?
Driving my 9-3 today until I can get a better handle on this 9-5 issue.
