2000 lpt 9-5
Today had the engine basically stop when going up a freeway hill and after it was towed to a garage I found that the hose from the brake booster to the intake manifold (the three way hose with the check valve on it) was off completely. Yay! Lucky me. No big $ repair.
As soon as I replaced the hose all was well but the nipple was obviously suspect.
Went and got a new nipple (the red locking kind) for the intake manifold and it looked really complicated to pull the base out of the manifold itself.
In the end I just pulled out the red locking collar from the new one and put it in the old one.
Seems to work ok but I don't know whether to expect that it will give way under pressure again.
Would appreciate ANY IDEAS OR EXPERIENCE???? Do I absolutely have to pull out the base of the old one???
(PS: This may have been the source of my intermittent boost problem too as it seems to be better for no....)
