Trunk release stopped working

Hello.
My trunk release has stopped working. This happened on our last trip from Canada. At the US border, the agent asked me to open the trunk. I released it from the button on my door. Then, the agent really slammed down the trunk real hard. Since then, it hasn't worked.
I can still unlock the trunk with the key but trying to do so with the driver's door release button or the remote will not unlock it. I already thoroughly searched everywhere for the cause of the problem and I went to check the wires, specially in the L shaped connector to the trunk. I didn't see any damaged wire at all. I checked the power going to the actuator on my multimeter. The peak of power is very short but I could see the power peaking when pressing the release button on the remote. The actuator also seems to be properly engaged with the rod system that release the lock on the trunk. All plastic parts seem intact and operating too.
So, it would seem that the actuator is bad. But I wanted to check here first to see if there are other ways to diagnose this problem.
Anyone has any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!
