I have been driving a "Hard Reverse" Aero manual trans in an 01 for quite a bit now.

When I purchased the card used I was going to replace the trans, but got used to it. Sometimes (most of the time) the car has to move ever so slightly backwards to get it into gear. Checked the linkage, but his is not the problem. This is kind of a "known issue" with Manual Aeros, I have read that some sort of clip lets go inside.

Not sure what years, etc, but clutch is still good and might change out the trans when the clutch finally has to be replaced.

Don't know if this is your issue....
