Black goo in coolant reservoir - what is it? Posted by Tulsaab [Email] (#31) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Tulsaab) on Mon, 14 Sep 2015 08:24:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |

Was looking under the hood yesterday and noticed my coolant had changed from a bright orange to a murky brown color. When opening the cap, the coolant is still a brilliant dexcool orange and has the same smell/consistency, but the sides of the tank are lined with a brownish/black slime. It doesn't seem like oil, as there's no oil floating on the top of the coolant and it doesn't seem greasy - just lining the sides.
Is this oil, ATF, or could this be residual from a failing hose? I replaced the upper rad hose a few years back with a URO hose which seemed to have questionable quality - i'm wondering if this could be it. Thoughts?
