I'm assuming the car is not smoking, overheating, losing coolant, and the oil appears clean (i.e uncontaminated by coolant)?
You could have introduced air into the system when you replaced the hoses.. which can cause oxidation over time... I would try flushing the system out a few times with distilled water...and cleaning up the expansion tank.. (run the heater on high when flushing)
