Hey Doug,
I remember that last time you were having the electrical gremlins, you determined it was the battery (getting the one you have now).
If you haven't ruled them out, I would also be suspect of the cables -- look at the link we exchanged last year for the procedure to test them.
With the age of your car, they are certainly suspect, and corrosion will most certainly cause your battery to charge less efficiently as well as can impair its ability to supply the high load required to run the fuel system, starter, etc. during a start-up cycle.
Its less about what the voltage measures at the battery than it is about how effectively the cable transports that power.
