If these problems coincide, I would try checking the fuel mixture while the engine is cold. Of course, running rich usually doesn't set a check engine code, therefore finding the problem will be a pain (if it decides not to act up while at the dealer). I think that you should let the dealer have it for a couple of days; this will allow them to attempt to reproduce the exact problem. There is a chance that they are barking up the wrong tree. Before you take it back to them, though, make sure that the smoke is fuel related (check the smell). You'll probably find that it is, and that the problems might be related.
Remember, I'm not a full time technician, and I don't have the vehicle in front of me either. There is the probability that there are other symptoms that you haven't told me (or don't notice exist), that could point in another direction altogether. Don't take my word as absolute truth, because I can't see the whole picture, but I would explore the possibility that they are linked and that they are fuel related. Give it a shot; at this point, I don't think that you have anything to lose. I doubt, seriously, that you have had two bad turbos (I also doubt that you had one bad turbo).
Cheers,
Brian.
