Not all 9-5 driveshafts had accessible circlips holding the outer CV joint to the axle. The early '99 version employed a hidden circular spring clamp. To remove the CV joint, one clamps the axle into a vise and then uses a drift and hammer on the inner race to unseat the joint from the axle spline.
