Hardest part is dismantling the top of the console Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 29 Oct 2015 17:15:37 In Reply to: Shifter Jalousie, marynvince, Thu, 29 Oct 2015 14:38:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Tedious steps requiring bending plastic covers to almost the point of breakage to remove them. Good you are doing this now rather than in another month or two if you live in a Northern state.
As Francois said the easiest method involves cutting the right side of the jalousie by splitting the right side trunion. This will allow you to wrap the jalousie around the shifter rather than removing the shift knob which requires removing a short T10 Torx screw from a blind location. The two split halves of the trunion slip into a groove in the shift lever and the split becomes invisible.
While you are in there you may want to replace the 3 watt wedge base PRNDL lamp too.
