Your scenario doesn't match the most common CPS symptom of hot crank-but-no-start, but it still could be an issue. Has the CPS ever been changed that you know of?
In the mean time, the gas could be a culprit, so you might give it a try if you can do that safely and conveniently. Is starting immediate, or does it require several cranking tries before it fires up? Lower volatility summer blended gas can do this in cold weather . . . just had this happen with one of our cars. If the starting is hard, with stalling until it's warmed up, then gas could be it.
Has a CEL been set? I note you mention fuel filter, but not fuel pump. Is your fuel pump original? If so, 143K miles is beyond the average lifetime.
Hope you find your cause soon - winter is the least fun season to have an issue.
