It depends on how bad the Valve Cover (VC) gasket is - eventually air can get in where oil gets out: a vacuum leak.
If you have the VC gasket, changing it is not bad - BUT be careful not to break the vacuum nipple on the VC. You can find the tightening sequence and torques by searching the board. If you do this, you might order a new SAAB VC chain guide (black rubber inside the VC)- the SAAB one is $$ more than you think it should be, but the Febi one I got was too thick and didn't fit right.
