Replacing dashboard lights: LEDs?

Just noticed that on my '01 9-5 Aero, the lights illuminating the speedo and tach on their left sides are apparently no longer working.
I've replaced some other bulbs with LEDs on the car (seat heater switches) and looked around here for some info about what others have done - nothing recent. I'll have my tech pull the dash (not something I'd feel comfortable doing...) and replace all of the dash illumination bulbs with LEDs.
Any experience with which bulbs work best? I went with LEDs from Superbright LEDS; they sell LEDs with different brightness outputs. The ones I got for the seat heeater switches are noticeably brighter than the original grain of wheat bulbs - no problem there. For the dash, I don't think I'd want the illumination to be any brighter than the original levels.
TIA!
