Pretty much as Larry says.
Or, as the SAAB technical-training reference-manuals would like the technicians to understand it: The "boost" gauge has no direct correlation to ACTUAL engine vacuum or boost-pressure.
*allow me to nerd-out on you now*
Technically speaking; the boost gauge is an algorithmic representation of the T7 (Trionic-7 engine management control system) computer's reading/s of various sensors as to what the air pressure inside the engine's intake manifold and combustion chambers might be at any given time during engine operations.
Presumably:
The GREEN/WHITE zone is indicating a negative pressure differential, or "engine vacuum" (AKA no boost).
And,
The ORANGE/YELLOW and RED zones of the boost gauge are indicating a charge-air pressure value (AKA Boost).
!Understanding Though!
That the gauge reading will vary in {overall} scale at any time during normal operations and should never be assumed for a certain Pressure or Vacuum value at any particular position.
Same goes for the temperature gauge, as they say in the technical manuals.
But there is more-or-less a range-of-operation to expect to see if everything is in proper working order.
