Broken red slide on harness

It was warmer today, but I guess not warm enough and the part one pulls on harness 12797694 (top, against the firewall) broke. I could still secure the harness by manually manipulating each half of the red clip. I might leave it alone as it might never get touched again now that the CBV is deleted.
Can the clip be transplanted from a new/used part or do I need to swap over all the pins? It looks like the plastic tab on the clip can be flexed and the clip removed.
The perimeter of where harness mates to its other half was dirty. Is it supposed to seal somehow? Or is that the seal in that it keeps dirt away from the pins?
