You can stock up on the parts that are still available new and cheap. You don't need everything, just the parts that are known to fail and are specific to the car. Body and interior parts come to mind. Alternators can always be rebuild so need to be worried about items like that. Buying a 9-5 with a bad engine for $300 and stripping the car specific parts such as glass, indicators, electronics and maybe body panels and doors will keep you driving for a long time.
I'm actually more worried that when the OEMs lose interest in the 9-5 chinese copies will come in (like for the DI cassette) and quality of the replacement parts goes down. Or Orio wanting to make more profit dropping the quality parts and shifting to el cheapo copies. I think I saw Swedecar complaining about that as well some time ago (9-3 throttle cable?).
