Yeah, John, the automatics in the 9000s were IMO unacceptable.

But I really like this Aisin 5 speed automatics in the 2004 and newer 9-5s. Finally an automatic capable of getting the most of the turbo 2.3 liter four.

I got my first automatic Saab reluctantly (the price was crazy low, basically new car with 900 miles on it for 50 cents on the dollar) and have been very happy with the output and the gas mileage of this 2004 Arc. Now, I've now got 4 9-5s (and no more 9000s) and three of the four are Aisin 5 speed automatics.
