The Oil trap is rather unique in these motors . The component is a strange aluminum box/chamber with some internal baffles made of black plastic that breaks down . And the top brass outlet is about needle sized . The hose that leads out of the top goes thru a Positive Control Valve , allowing only one way flow of crankcase pressure/fumes back to the throttle body . There is a plastic flap inside the aluminum oil trap that fails , then the little one way valve fails . The fat elbow hose on top of the oil trap is another flunky element , replace it and carry an extra .
The car then accumulates condensation vapor , rather than re-burning it , thus the creamy sludge . The vacume hoses need careful attention , as well as the little plastic one way valve .{$2.99] .
I just replaced the filler neck on the front valve cover / oil cap after years of seepage . Another easy fix .
You can get this problem fixed , and get another 100,000 miles or more !
