To follow along KW's points, even if the PCV hoses and check valve are all fine, that little brass outlet that he referred to blocks up over time.
I used a old broken drill bit that I had -- very thin -- to open up the small hole. Note -- not in a drill, just used my fingers to hold the bit. It was exactly the right diameter and length to easily and completely open the hole.
Getting that system working properly made a big difference -- it seems to have eliminated some small oil drips on the floor.
