My experience with high mileage (>150k miles) cars:
Alternator and starter both have brushes which are wear items. They'll both need overhauls. Failure of either could leave you stranded.
Fuel pump is similar and has been mentioned.
Rear sub-frame bushings typically only last to 120,000 or so. When deteriorated they'll result in front end rattles and poor handling.
Front sway bar links will need replacement and also result in rattles. They're cheap and simple to replace.
Throttle bodies on these cars are a typical wear item and need overhaul or replacement. Typical symptoms are drive-ablilty issues and loss of cruise control.
Crank position sensor every 100,000 is typical. It's another item that will result in a no-start condition.
Radiator at 120k - 150k can be expected as the crimp-on side members start to weep. Coolant hoses (all) should be done at the same time along with the thermostat if it hasn't been done already.
Dampers and suspension bushings are at your discretion but ignoring them can result in rapid tire wear and unpredictable handling. Typical life expectancy is 150,000 - 200,000 miles - less for shocks / struts and is brand dependent.
Depending on where you live, corrosion of the air conditioning condenser is typical. There are also hoses / pipes that can abrade and wear through resulting in system failure.
Fortunately not all these things fail simultaneously but be prepared to spend $150 - $200 a month to address them as they arise (Double that figure if you're not a DIYer). You can also build a schedule to address them on a preventative basis. Keep a log book to keep track of your maintenance.
I too intend to keep the family 9-5 for another ten years too - it's been with us five so far.
