Per suggestions on in SaabNet and with a weak or non-starting turbo, I cleaned the MAF on my 2001 base 9-5. No effect on turbo, but occasional pinging stopped.
With half a can of MAF cleaner left, I cleaned the MAF on my 2004 Suzuki Aerio. Wow! All pinging ended. It had been pinging when hot. Not only that, but plenty more power; it leaves rubber in two gears unless I am careful. It's on Michelin Pilots, not slicks. The car is also running a K&N oiled air filter, which are known for changing MAF readings.
