The Flange + weird tranny position Posted by mdSaabCZ [Email] (#1878) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mdSaabCZ) on Thu, 30 Jun 2016 18:51:25 In Reply to: CV Joint Companion Flange, mdSaabCZ [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 26 Jun 2016 16:31:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all, thanks for the helpful hints on the flange removal. One more thing, while I was under the car, I noticed my auto tranny mount, front driver side, was ripped up. I have one ready to go, but when I started to move the tranny to relieve the weight off the mount, I noticed that instead of the tranny being lower, as in sagging, it was pushed up about 1/2 inch, forward by about an inch and off towards the engine side by about an inch. Exactly opposite of what I thought the tranny would do with a busted mount. I think something happened when a deer hit me at about 50, right on the corner passenger side, but that doesn't appear to be the case since nothing else seems to be busted there. There is nothing wrong with the engine/tranny connection. It just seems that the whole engine/tranny shifted over. How do I straighten it out without pulling it out too much. I don't have an engine lift, so most of my work will be done by joisting it up from below. Do I have to loosen up all the mounts, including the engine one all the way to the left? I know this is a weird one, but I do need to move it back into place somehow, I think that is how the flange got messed up because it is a little too forward and away from the wheel, so about a 1/4 of an inch of the tripod bearing is sticking out, the axle is not all the way in. Thanks...
