Not sure why that worked, but it did. Many thanks for the advice.
I should have pointed out that I was replacing my hood with a used part, my original was slightly damaged by a deer a few months back. When I closed the new hood the first time, I couldn't open it again. Your trick allowed me to open it and adjust it so that now it opens and closes normally.
For anyone swapping out a hood, I would remove the gas struts that hold the hood up and remove both pins that catch the cable controlled locks. Set the bolts to the hood just hand tight so you can close it without locking it, shift it around until your shut lines are good, the open and tighten the hood bolts. Repeat until satisfied with the fit. Once your bolts are locked down tight, reinstall the struts. Then reinstall the springs and pins one at a time, getting the left depth setting set before doing the right one. Reason is that the struts push the hood forward as you close it for test fitting, and doing the pins one at a time allows you to get the hood open easier if it is not set right.
All is well now, so it's off to the paint shop for a respray to the correct color.
Many thanks, again. For a while, I thought I would have to cut the hood off!
