Re: Orientation question - and full bead Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Thu, 1 Sep 2016 18:31:55 In Reply to: Orientation question, steve, Thu, 1 Sep 2016 12:53:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I used a full bead of adhesive - someone had apparently 'fixed' this before and the adhesive dots never bonded to anything, leaving the rubber piece in the bottom of the door. The glass rattled from the day we got the car, but I didn't know what it was telling me.
I wish I could remember for CERTAIN which side goes outboard. The illustration on eEurparts website matches my memory of the OUTER lip being the wider one. Hope someone else will confirm.
I replaced the upper glass seal as my primary job, and then I realized the absence of the lower seal caused the destruction of the upper seal - so I had the interior upper door trim removed and it was easy to make the two match. It was also obvious that the lower seal buts up against the upper one and can help support it securely fastened, so I used a full bead of adhesive.
Hope you get yours right.
