Ease/feasibility of installing driving lights

I've recently made the move up to Juneau, AK and think that this may be justification enough to put some Hella driving lights on the front of my '04 Arc wagon. We have only about six hours of daylight here come December and my daily commute involves about ten miles on an unlit, rural highway. Although we don't have any moose in these parts, there are plenty of other creatures lurking on the shoulders.
Before I make any purchases, I have two main queries:
1. What is the easiest way to get through the firewall? Is the wiring involved on a job like this something that someone with zero electrical experience can handle?
2. Does anyone have any ideas for mounting? I don't want to make any permanent modifications to the car. I imagine I'll end up back in the lower 48 eventually and will probably feel goofy with these things on my car, so I'd like to be able to take them off without any regrets. Are the license plate holes sturdy enough to attach some sort of bracket to?
Thank you much!
