In addition to the camber that presents itself when the rear suspension sags, the toe is also affected. While too much negative camber can lead to tire wear issues, toe-in is more troublesome for tire wear, as both rear tires are trying to turn inward, causing excessive tire wear on those inside tire shoulders.
Correcting the sag corrects both the camber and toe issues.
Interestingly, my '03 Aero wagon does exhibit some sag, but tire wear is not (yet?) noticeably excessive.
