I needed to be in Harlingen about 25 miles from home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was hoping to drive the Saab. On Saturday late afternoon I replaced the throttle body with the one from my '99 parts car, hoping to have the car for the Sunday trip. No codes. Idled nicely and smoothly. When I tried driving it, it stumbled in Drive and stepping on the accelerator caused the boost gauge to go way into the red and the engine to stall. I could not find a disconnected vacuum hose. I babied it the block home in idle and many starts. Reset limp home mode and took it out again with same result. The '99 did not have its limp home solenoid so I used the one from the '01.
Bernie's email had new information. I had noticed both when removing and replacing the '01 throttle body that the throttle cable was snug. It is not snug on the '99.
I am on my way to Oreillys to pick up my new throttle body to manifold gasket. I will try it first with the '01 throttle body and see if the codes do not appear after I loosen the cable a notch. I am getting good with R&R throttle body and will report later.
