Unsolvable high idle Posted by Bill B [Email] (#1884) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill B) on Thu, 23 Nov 2017 07:32:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Happy Thanksgiving to all. This puzzle may be for after dinner rumination.
It is a follow-up to my post of November 9 (ref below) in which I complained of high idle, now between 1200 and 1500 rpm, and racing to 3000 rpm for ten seconds on cold start. I ran out of things to try. There were no replies.
My wife and I spent Tuesday morning at the Saab dealer in Houston, Viking Automotive. They did many checks, including Tech2 examinations of throttle body, temporary replacement of MAF with a new one, a smoke test for vacuum leaks. Results: Engine is fine, throttle body is fine, my MAF is fine, no vacuum leaks, and they could not adjust the idle with Tech2. It took an hour and a half. They would like more time but we were time limited and had to go.
On one hand, I feel good that my efforts were not flawed and good that I could not solve a real problem. On the other hand, I feel bad that the idle speed is still high.
Any ideas? Do I need another trip to Houston, or one to LA?
Bill
(Getting the link below, I noticed that there was an answer this morning that addressed the 3000 rpm starts, not the high idle, but that is good.)
