Is it still possible to get good IDM's? For a while it was possible to get proper SEM units through Rock Auto (and I bought 2 of them when they were around $150/ea - probably should have bought more!!). From what I have heard that is not possible anymore. I may have to bite the bullet and purchase official SAAB cassettes in the future if there are no other good OEM options. I think Orio has at least lowered the prices on many SAAB branded parts, the DIC being one of them...
I was flipping through the records of a recently acquired 9-5 and noted an IDM swap performed at an indy at a cost of $698 for the cassette (and a very reasonable price for the double platinum plugs)... that was about the time I bought those $150 cassettes! But imho his indy did the right thing rather than putting in a cheaper Chinese made unit (this is a good SAAB indy). So I guess I have a fairly new, proper SAAB cassette in that car, but it is not any wonder why people give up on SAABs as being a bit costly to maintain if they do not know the ins and outs of this stuff!
re bosal/walker... I thought walker/starla were the same company, and starla supplies the exhausts at eeuroparts which bolt right up pretty much exactly like OEM. I had a bosal cat on a c900 and it was fine, but a bit wider profile and was really hard to align such that it would not rattle. Magnaflo was much better in that car. So I would check all dimensions if possible, not just the flange, before ordering. Both cats were cheapies but performed fine for my needs.
