I'm on my third Saab, '02 Aero SW, 2800 miles. Before that, a '95 9000CS, 7 years, 111K miles, and an '89 9000S, 6 years, 80K miles.
1. Snow tires. I love to drive in snow. I have had many sets of Michelin MXV4's, and have never felt the need to own snow tires (in the northeast). However, my salesman told me up front that the Aero will not go in the snow. I have read many older posts here and apparently the Aero with snows will do circles around some SUV's. People seem to like the Saab package of mounted alloy Gislavad snows. I plan to purchase them in the fall (about $900). It only takes one good snow storm to make them worthwhile. Besides, my OEM tires will last that much longer.
2. Leather. My '89 had charcoal, '95 had tan, '02 has charcoal. We take good care of our cars, and they are garaged. The leather in all of them has stood up beautifully, cleaned a few times a year. I have seen neglected leather, and it's not a pretty sight. I don't think the color has anything to do with wear, it is how well it was taken care of. The quality of the Saab leather is the nicest I've seen. Personally I like the gray because it never looks dirty, but I think it is a little hotter in the summer. I got tired of the tan. Also, gray carpet is much more practical than tan.
3. Saab body integrity. Our cars are garaged, washed fairly frequently, especially in the winter (sand and salt), waxed twice a year. I have never had even a tiny spec of corrosion after 6 years, and 7 years. Again, if you take good care of your car, like anything else, it will last a long time.
4. Incentives. I don't know what the current ones are. I tend to think that you will not see them when the '03's come out. Maybe someone else has followed them throughout the year. If you keep your cars a long time, why not take advantage of the end of the year incentives now?
Good Luck,
AeroLady
