2008 hard start/no start Posted by thetallguy [Email] (#1698) [Profile/Gallery] (more from thetallguy) on Sun, 17 Feb 2019 04:12:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am having an intermittent problem with starting my 2008 9-5 wagon. There are a couple of things happening: Upon turning the key car starts but runs/idles poorly. Getting on gas sometimes resolves this although, occasionally, it does not. When it does not the car idles very poorly and then dies. I have replaced CPS and air mass and cleaned the throttle body (not dirty). None of this has affected this intermittent issue. I am currently starting the car with the throttle advanced slightly when I turn the key. Generally this results in a successful start. Once the idle is good the car runs/drives fine. I have no codes/no check engine light. This problem crops up every 60 or so starts. I have a new 9-3 throttle body-can the electrical part of a 9-3 throttle body be swapped over to an existing 9-5 body? the only other issue I see may be that the emissions hose to the cobra pipe appears to have a one way check valve? If it is actually one way mine is no longer one way but two way. I am leaning toward throttle body but, given the cost, am reluctant to throw more parts at the issue.
