Radiator fan vibration - Suggestion Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Wed, 12 Jun 2019 06:48:50 In Reply to: Radiator fan vibration 2005 9-5 Linear wagon, Stephan Matanovic, Tue, 11 Jun 2019 13:40:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Safety first - I suggest disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Then disconnect the fan leads, and spin each fan by hand to see what is really happening.
It may be one or both fans have gone out-of-balance by losing a blade or other part of the plastic. Or could be a bearing. Or maybe a shroud has a problem and is hitting a blade. Regardless, when you can see everything in motion, you can probably tell.
At the limit, remove the fan assembly and check it outside the car. It's a little bit of a pain (because of a hard-to-get-at screw at bottom).
Hope you find it !
